C.B. "Sonny" Mathis, 77, of Leachville, died Friday, July 15, 2005, at Monette Manor Nursing Home. Born at Black Oak, he was the son of the late Claude Horatio and Mary Ollie Bishoff Mathis and was a lifelong resident. He was a retired electronics technician and was also retired from Advance Printing Corporation. Mr. Mathis was a Navy veteran of WWII and a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreigh Wars. He was a member of the Leachville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, T.J. Mathis.
Survivors include his Wife, Peggy Nall Mathis of Leachville; three sons, Butch Mathis of Leachville, Jeff Mathis of Winston-Salem, N.C., Rusty Mathis of Albuuerque, N.M.; two daughters: Rosey Sanders of Hot Springs and Mary Beth Wheeler of Leachville; a brother, Jerry Mathis of Williford; two sisters, Agnes Crittendon of Leachville and Jeanie Rodgers of Bay; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Donnie Hudson and Rev. Phillip Rodgers officating. Burial was in Leachville Cementery.
