Dr. Barney Franklin Threlkeld

Dr. Barney Franklin Threlkeld, 84, of Claremont, Calif., formerly of Manila, died June 20, 2005, near Mitchell Falls in the Kimberly Region of Western Australia from injuries received in an accident while traveling with a tour group. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late Joseph Elmer and Flora Nolley Threlkeld and was a graduate of Manila High School. He graduated from the University Of Arkansas School Of Medicine in 1948 and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He served as a medical officer in Japan and Korea and later practiced in veteran's hospitals in Memphis, Tenn., and Lincoln, Neb. He had been a resident of Claremont, Calif., since 1959 where he practiced as a pediatrician until his retirement.

He is survived by a sister, Bobbie Jean Threlkeld, of Manila.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annabelle Biship, and a brother, J.E. Threlkeld, Jr.

A private funeral service was held Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
