Monette

Clifton Neal Jackson, 82, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church. He was born in Ash Flat on Sept. 14, 1922, and lived in the Monette area since 1945, formerly of Ash Flat.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Terra Jackson of Jonesboro; a son-in-law, Gary Sowards of Milton, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Redding, of Monette; four grandchildren, Shawnia Redding Vaughn, Allison Vaughn, Amber Chitwood and Catherine Jackson; and a sister, Nova Erwin of Hoxie.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Coy and Vada Jackson, and his wife, Mary Freda Jackson; a son, Lyndon Jackson; a daughter, Doralene Sowards; and a sister, Wanda Parker.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Burial was in the Macey Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Pallbearers were Michael Pinkston, Johnny Crittenden, David Harrell, Tommy Swetnam, Larry Ladd, and Kevin Wimberly.

Honorary pallbearers were C.L. Erwin, Bob Hout and Hammil Million.

The family requests anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the Monette First Baptist Youth Program or St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
