"The BI on our caps, sure bring out a lot of questions," said Mike Matheny. "We are asked if we forgot to put the "C" on our hats, and what exactly does BI stand for. The truth is when boys reach these ages there are so many different avenues for them to go. This year we had to combine our surrounding towns to have enough to play. Since we are from different towns in the Buffalo Island area, and didn't want to pick a school mascot, we came up with the Buffalo Island Bashers.
"They are a really good team," said Matheny. "All but one of the players, Garrett Qualls, are 15 years old. So that makes Garrett the old man on the team, and he will be a good leader for us."
The rest of the team includes: Trevor Matheny, Chad Williams, Mike Arant, are from Monette; Jansen Newcom, Shane Harvill, of Leachville; Chad Nunnaly and Josh Jones, of Manila; Cody Richardson, Shawn Matthews, Garrett Qualls, of Lake City; Dillion Osment and Chase Cooper from Valley View.
