Montie D. Gunter, 92, of Kennett, the widow of W.R. "Jack" Gunter, died Monday, April 2, 2005, at her home.

Born at Hornersville, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Myrtle Brannum Gowen. She was a former Leachville area resident and had lived in Kennett since 1986 where she was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie Marion and Jim Ackerson of Kennett: a granddaughter, Jama Adkerson of Kennett; a nephew, John "Jerry" Neal, of Belleville, Ill., and a niece, Linda Lawrence of Dexter, Mo.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Parks and a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Nell Neal.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Ed Jansson officiating. Burial was in the Horner Cemetery at Hornersville.
