MHS Quiz Bowl takes Regional Title

Nick answered 55 questions to receive the MVP title and a spot on the All-State team.

The 3A Regional Tournament was held on March 3 in Jonesboro at the Southwest Church of Christ. Nick has been a part of the Quiz Bowl teams in elementary, junior high and senior high.

Teams from other schools included Valley View, Riverside, Osceola, Rivercrest, Gosnell, Trumann, Brookland and Westside.

The Manila team only lost one round and that was to Valley View in the preliminary matches. Manila's team came back to defeat Valley View in the final round by five points.

Jerri McCann is the sponsor for the Manila High School Quiz Bowl Team.

Members of the team include: Seniors -- Nick Robbins and Jason Phillips; juniors -- Nathan Lesley and Matt Kiel; sophomores, Juston Jaco, James Richmond; and Freshmen -- Nathan Robbins, Blaine Lawerence and Lance Parks.

The team went on to state competition at Dardanelle High School on April 2.

"We are very proud of the team," Ms. McCann said. "They did a great job and represented our school well."
