George Brown, 83, of Dixie died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at his residence.
Born in the Coffman community in Greene County, he had lived in Dixie for most of his life. He was retired from the Dixie Gin Co. after 39 years and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Betty DeBrock of the home; a daughter, Joan Brewer of Fort Smith; two stepsons, David Bellomy of Lake City and Gary Bellomy of Paragould; four sisters, Jean Guertin of Phoenix, Rose Bailey and Alberta Biehl, both of Rockford, Ill., and Dorothy Burgess of Cabot; two brothers, Alvin Brown of Lake City and Odie Brown of Yuma, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Benny W. Brown; a daughter, Sue Brewer; his parents, Albert and Edna Smith Brown; two sisters; and two brothers.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro with Rev. G.E. Endicott officiating. Burial was in Woods Chapel Cemetery near Paragould.
