Oliver M. Beckman - Kennett

Oliver M. Beckman, 92, of Kennett, formerly of Cardwell, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Heritage Nursing Center.

He was ordained into the ministry in July 1955 and was a member of the Tennessee Valley Conference Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was born Jan. 23, 1913, in Lindsborg, Kan. He was the son of Edwin and Olivia Weistrand Beckman. He and Cora Beatrice Schuerenberg were married on Oct. 17, 1936, at Lilbourn, Mo.

He is survived by three daughters, Marion "Bonnie" Taylor of Hayti, Mo., June Marshall of St. Louis, Mo., and Belle Lewis of Manila; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife on June 7, 1999, a daughter, Naomi Faye Beckman, and a brother, Vern Beckman.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett, with Rev. Leroy Thornton and James Chipman officiating. Burial was in the Cardwell Cemetery under the direction of McDaniel Funeral Service.

Grandsons, Jerry Taylor, Mark Taylor, Tony Marshall, Brad Lewis, Michael Jackson and Jason Glass, served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Clayton Presson and Jeremy Ledbetter.
