Manila School Board members met in special session on Monday, March 26, for an expulsion hearing.
The closed session lasted one hour and 40 minutes.
The board voted to accept Superintendent Pam Castor's recommendation to reconvene the hearing after receiving additional testing and information.
The board briefly reviewed two proposals for air conditioning the gymnasium. The proposals were made by Brackett-Krennerich-Cooper Architects, P.L.L.C. of Mountain Home.
The first proposal was to split the existing system adding five ton cooling coil to each existing system at a projected cost of $50,000 to $60,000.
The second proposal was for a new package system adding two 15-20 package units with ductwork extending up exterior walls. This system will offer more cooling and operate more efficiently. The projected cost for this system was $70,000 to $80,000.
The first proposal was based on short term use and would require more attention to pre-cooling. The second proposal offers more cooling capacity and would maintain a cooler environment during an extended event.
The board voted to pursue the new package system and allow bids to be taken.
