G.F. Stewart - Monette

G.F. Stewart, 83, of Monette died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was a retired farmer, U.S. Army veteran of World War II, past Post Commander of American Legion Post 136, past Monette city councilman, past board member of Monette Co-Op and past mayor of Monette. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, W.A. and Lizzie Ware Stewart, six brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Pitts Stewart of the home; two sisters, Beulah Cannon of Monette and Iva Lee Hutchins of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two sons, Revis and Rickey Stewart, both of Monette; a daughter, Doris Blankenship of Monette; four grandchildren, Missi Miller and Kristi Wildy, both of Leachville, and Kevin and Jason Stewart, both of Monette; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were 10 a.m. Saturday at the Monette First Baptist Church, Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Burial was in Macey Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Active pallbearers were Kevin Stewart, Jason Stewart, Gordon Miller, Jr., R.D. Jackson, Justin Wildy, David Harrell, Ronnie Qualls and Norman Williams.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Abner Blankenship American Legion Post 136 in Monette.
