Vernon Eugene Shaffner II, 32, of Okeechobee, Fla., formerly of Manila, died Monday, March 7, 2004, at The Med in Memphis. Born in Blytheville, he had lived most of his life in Manila and was a truck driver. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include three sons, Aaron Ray Shaffner, Jacob Anthony Shaffner and William Andrew Shaffner, all of Manila; mother, Wanda Metzger, and step-father, Steven Ray Metzger, of Manila; two sisters, Lavonda Ann Cornick of Okeechobee, Fla., and Hope Marie Chrisawn of Lebanon, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Eugene Shaffner.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
