Romona Thieme, Mississippi County Family and Consumer Science Agent, carried home a truck load of awards from Extension's recent Galaxy Conference.
Thieme teamed up with agents from Clay County and Greene County to plan and conduct a summer nutrition camp last year. The camp included workshops on food safety, breakfast essentials, five a day (fruits and vegetables), snack choices, and milk matters.
Thieme is a member of the AAE4-HA (Arkansas Association of Extension 4-H Agents). For the camp program she and her colleagues conducted, this organization gave her two awards. One was for "Excellence in Teamwork" and the other was "for the "Feature Story" she sent to local newspapers about the camp.
Thieme is also a member of the NEAFCS (National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences). The organization presented her the award of "Excellence in 4-H Afterschool Programming" for the nutrition camp program.
The NEAFCS also selected Thieme as the winner of the "Dean Don Felker Financial Management Award". The recognition comes from the Financial Management Sessions Thieme conducted for the Mississippi County Corrections Department.
Thieme is also a member of Epsilon Sigma Phi, Extension's noted honor society. They chose Thieme and associates for the "Team Award" for their nutrition camp.
