Howard Wayne Cathey, 49, of Pocahontas, formerly of Manila, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in California, he was raised in Manila and had lived much of his life in Texas before moving to Pocahontas two years ago. He was the son of the late Bill Cathey and a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hinkle Cathey, of Pocahontas; a son, Tommy Cathey of Grapevine, Texas; two stepsons, Larry Bishop and Ricky Bishop, both of Greenville, Texas; his mother, Gladys Cathey of Manila; a brother, Ronnie Cathey of Pocahontas; two sisters, Peggy Cathey of California and Dorothy Downing of Blytheville; and three grandsons.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Billy Morris and Bob Hickman officiating. Burial was in Manila Cemetery.
