Lady Rebels defeat Marmaduke

Riverside closed out the conference season with a victory as the Lady Rebels knocked off Marmaduke in heart stopping style 44-43 Thursday night at Marmaduke.

Marmaduke held a slim 14-13 edge after the first quarter, only to see the Lady Rebels battle back to take a 26-22 halftime advantage. Riverside held a slim 32-29 lead entering the final quarter before pulling out the win in the last minute on a late free throw.

The Lady Rebels were led by Marisa Johnson who had a team high 12 points. Natasha Coffey scored seven, Audrey Booth netted six, Amanda Milligan, Sam Dunigan, and Miranda Boyd all added five points apiece, while Emilee Hook pitched in four points in the Rebel victory. Riverside finished 12-21 from the foul line on the night as they improved to 14-15 overall and 4-10 in 3AA North Conference play.

Marmaduke was led by Brooke Smith who had a game high 17 points. Danielle Bateman scored 11 points while Lindsey Hickson added 10 more. The Lady Greyhounds were 7-8 from the free throw line and nailed eight treys on the night, three each by Smith and Bateman.

In junior high action, Riverside completed an undefeated conference season, finishing 14-0 in the league while notching their 30th win against four losses overall, by downing Marmaduke 42-38.

Brianna Driver and Katey Campbell led the Lady Rebels with 13 and 11 points respectively. Kassie Douglas scored seven, Morgan Emery scored six, while Kasey Davis added five to round out the Riverside attack. The Lady Rebels were 14-27 from the foul line.

Marmaduke placed two players in double digits, led by Amber Haynes' 17 points and Taylor Graham's 14. The Lady Greyhounds were 7-10 from the free throw line and hit three treys.

Marmaduke led throughout the game before the Lady Rebels rallied in the fourth period to pull out the win. The Lady Greyhounds led 10-6 after the first quarter, 17-15 at the half, and 28-27 after three quarters.

Riverside's Senior Lady Rebels will travel to Manila Tuesday night for a non-conference match-up prior to the Riverside-Manila senior boys contest.

Riverside's 3AA North Junior High Champion girls will open District Tournament action at 8:15 Tuesday night against Buffalo Island Central at Caraway. The Lady Rebels will enter the tournament as the number one seed while BIC comes in seeded eighth.
