Manila picked up a win over Trumann on Thursday 58-56 giving them a probable third place in 3AAA South Conference. Tied 16-16 after one the Lady Lions outscored the Lady Wildcats 23-15 to take a 39-31 halftime advantage. Trumann pulled within five after three 47-42 before the Lady Lions held on for the slim win.
Rachel Cheadle led Manila with 18 followed by Deborah White with 13. Others scoring for Manila were Rocio Bedello nine; Katie Veach eight; Whitney Shepard six; and Amanda Henson four.
Trumann was led by Caitlyn Brune with 22 points followed by Lindsey Davis with 13 and Jessica Byrd with 10. Also scoring were Alex Guthrie with five; Crystal Ealey with four; and Shandi Clayton two.
Manila picked up its first loss in junior girls action falling to Trumann 43-35. The junior Lady Wildcats led Manila 12-3 after one and held on to a 22-17 lead at the half. Trumann continued to lead Manila 36-26 after three before handing Manila its first loss of the season in 3AAA South
Michelle Daniel led Manila with 18 points followed by Kimberly Wise with eight. Also scoring for Manila were Rebekah White four; Colleen Kemp with three; and Heather Dozhier two.
Trumann was led by Courtney Prichard with 14 and Christine Gutherie with 13. Others scoring were Megan McDaniel with seven; Morgan McKenzie with six; and Kaelynn Benson three.
Manila hosted Gosnell on Monday and will travel to Osceola on Thursday.
