Walter G. "Jack" Davis - Manila

Walter G. "Jack" Davis, 91, of Manila, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at NEA Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Manila, he was the son of pioneer residents Epter and Mae Ashabranner Davis and was a lifelong resident. He was a farmer and also retired form American greetings Corp. in Osceola. He was a member of Manila First Baptist Church and was a life-time member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Davis served his country with the 9th Air Force in Europe during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Violetta "Vi" Davis of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Ellen Davis of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Wilda Hutton of Manila and Virginia Foley of Sherwood.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. Ferrel Duffel and Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral service of Manila.
