Lady rebels top bobcats

Riverside placed nine players in the scoring column as the Lady Rebels pounced the Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats 62-38 in 3AA North Conference action Thursday night at Lake City.

Riverside led 13-9 after the first quarter before opening an 30-18 halftime lead. The Lady Rebels outscored Walnut Ridge 18-8 in the third period to take a 48-26 lead into the final frame on their way to their second win of the year over the Lady Bobcats.

Sam Dunigan led Riverside with 14 points. Emilee Hook scored nine points while Audrey Booth and Natasha Coffey added eight points each. Ashley Foster followed with seven points, Marisa Johnson scored six, Miranda Boyd and Amanda Milligan netted four points each while Emma Wilson added two.

Walnut Ridge was led by Jessica Jarrett(s game high 23 points, including an 11-16 performance from the free throw line.

Riverside finished the night 17-27 from the charity stripe and hit one three pointer, while Walnut Ridge was 12-22 from the foul line.

In the junior high game, the Lady Rebels came away with a 41-35 victory. Brianna Driver and Morgan Emery led Riverside with 12 and 11 points respectively. Katey Campbell netted eight points, Kasey Davis scored four, while Kelsey Turner, Kassie Douglas, and Kailey Holt scored two points each. Riverside finished 17-38 from the free throw line.

Walnut Ridge was led by Racel Looney who scored nine points. The Bobcats shot a miserable 6-23 from the foul line while hitting one trey on the night.

Riverside trailed 9-8 after the first quarter before taking a 19-18 lead into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Rebels extended their lead to 28-26 after three quarters, before outscoring Walnut Ridge 13-9 in the fourth quarter to claim the six point win.

In seventh grade action, Riverside came away with a 21-15 win. Michelle Cobb led the Lady Rebels with nine points.
