Buffalo Island Central's Lady Mustangs remained undefeated in 3AA North Conference play by hanging on for a 78-69 victory at Piggott Monday night.
BIC, 5-0 in league play, had three players score 20 or more points to hold off a tough Lady Mohawk squad. Freshman Jessica Shepard led BIC with 24 points, while Stephanie Baldridge and Kasey Garrett netted 22 points apiece.
BIC held a 37-35 halftime lead before Baldridge nailed three straight treys to give the Ponies an 11 point lead midway through the third quarter. Baldridge finished with seven three pointers on the night.
Piggott also placed three players in double figures as Ashley Coleman led the way with 22 points, while Lauren Hickson and Kortney Toombs scored 15 and 12 points respectively.
BIC then hosted 3AAA North Conference powerhouse Pocahontas on Friday night and suffered an 85-57 defeat at the hands of the Lady Redskins.
Pocahontas, 9-2, led 29-8 after the first quarter and coasted to a 49-30 halftime lead.
Laura Throesch scored 21 points and Ashley Waller added 13 to lead the Lady Redskins.
BIC, 12-2, was led by Jessica Shepard who scored a game high 28 points.
The Lady Mustangs will open NEA Tournament play at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Convocation Center on the campus of Arkansas State University. The Lady Mustangs, seeded second, will play the Hillcrest Lady Eagles, who won their tournament opener over Marmaduke 48-39 Saturday night.
