Charles Franklin Hampton Sr., 71, of Edgemont died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in Little Rock. Born in Leachville, he had worked as a bus driver, retiring from the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Perdue Hampton of Edgemont; five sons, John Hampton of Paragould, Charles Hampton Jr. of Stockbridge, Ga., Daryl Hampton of Biggers, Gary Hampton of Hardy and Brian Hampton of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Michelle Hampton of Roswell, Ga.; two brothers, Billy Max Hampton of Edgemont and John W. Hampton of Jonesboro; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Lewis and Anna Mae Crabtree Hampton.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Maple Springs Cemetery with Rev. Joe Buttgen officiating. Jackson's Newport Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jerry Shaw, Larry Shaw, Bill Shaw, Dennis Shaw, Al Mathews and Steve Morris.
