Manila couldn't overcome Paragould's numbers Thursday night falling to the Lady Rams 67-53 in semifinal action of the Gerald Jennings Holiday Tourney at Manila. The Lady Lions tied the game 11-11 in the first before Paragould took a 35-31 advantage at the half. Manila's numerous turnovers in the third gave the Lady Rams a 50-38 cushion heading into the fourth. The Lady Lions came alive but could not overcome Paragould's full bench as 11 players for the Lady Rams saw action in all four quarters.
Manila was led by senior Amanda Henson with 16 and sophomore Rachel Cheadle added 16 with Katie Veach adding 11. Others scoring for MHS were Whitney Shepard four; Deborah White three; Rocio Bedolla two; and Annette Hiser one. Paragould was led by Ashton Reely with 15, Mikka Jaggers
with 11 and Whitney Baldridge and Lou Dement with 10 points each.
Manila advanced to semifinal action by defeating Gosnell on Tuesday 61-46. After a 10-10 first quarter the Lady Lions pulled away to take a 28-24 advantage at the half. Outscoring the Lady Pirates 19-11 in the third Manila enjoyed a 47-35 cushion heading into the final frame.
Three Lady Lions scored in double figures led by Rachel Cheadle with 16 followed by Deborah White with 14 and Amanda Henson with 13. Also scoring in the win were Whitney Shepard six; Katie Veach six; Rocio Bedolla four; and Annette Hiser with two. Gosnell was led by Neisha McKinney with 17 and Clarissa Cannon with 10.
Manila junior Lady Lions fell in first round action to the Lady Falcons of CRA 37-36. Manila led 13-10 after one and pushed the lead to 17-15 at the half. In a back and fourth third quarter the junior Lady Lions held a slim 27-26 advantage before falling in the fourth.
Rebekah White led MJHS with 10 points followed by Michelle Daniel, Colleen Kemp, and Kimberly Wise adding eight points each. Heather Dozhier rounded out scoring with two points.
