Luther "Rip" Smith, 75, of Stantonville, Tenn., died Nov. 30, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a group leader for General Motors for 28 years. He was a member of United Auto Workers and had lived in West Palm Beach, Fla., for 13 years and Auburn Hills, Mich., for 30 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Jo Shorland of Gloucester, Vir.; two sisters, Sammie Treadway of St. Joseph, Ill., and Molly Abernathy of West Memphis; two brothers, T.B. Smith of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Walter G. smith of Roscommon, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grisso Smith.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 at Shackelford Adamsville Chapel, Adamsville, Tenn. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery in Hardin County, Tenn.
