Riverside Lady Rebs

The Riverside Lady Rebels traveled to Piggott last Tuesday night and led going into the fourth quarter, 45-43, before seeing the Lady Mohawks rally by outscoring Riverside 24-10 in the final period to post a 67-55 victory in 3AA North Conference action.

Riverside trailed 13-10 after the first quarter but battled back to knot the game at 17-17 at intermission. The Lady Rebels outscored Piggott 18-13 in the third quarter to gain a two point advantage entering the final frame.

Piggott used balanced scoring, placing three players in double figures, with Ashley Coleman leading the way with 15 points, all on three pointers. Heather Bricker and Lauren Hickson scored 11 points each with Bricker nailing three treys.

Riverside also placed three players in double digits as Marisa Johnson and Emilee Hook led the way with 14 points apiece. Sam Dunigan scored 10 points, while Amanda Milligan netted seven. Miranda Boyd added six while Audrey Booth and Natasha Coffey chipped in two points each to round out the Lady Rebel attack.

Riverside hit 11 of 16 from the free throw stripe but managed only two three pointers on the night.

With the loss, the Lady Rebels fall to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Piggott went to the line 28 times, but only managed to connect on 13. However, their eight three pointers was one of the big keys to their victory.

In junior high action, Riverside rolled to a 48-26 win as Kasey Davis scored 11 points and Morgan Emery and Katey Campbell added 10 each. Brianna Driver scored eight points, Kassie Douglas added four, while Holly Dudley netted three and Kailey Holt chipped in two to round out the Lady Rebel scoring. Riverside was 0-4 at the free throw line and hit two three pointers on the night.

Piggott placed one player in double figures as Kaitlyn Morgan scored 10 points to lead the Lady Mohawks. Piggott went to the line 14 times, but managed to hit only three free throws. The Lady Mohaws hit three treys on the night.

Riverside led 12-8 after the first quarter and stretched their advantage to 25-10 by half time. The Lady Rebels then led 37-18 entering the final period as they improved to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the 3AA North Conference.

Both the senior and junior high Lady Rebels will compete in the Gerald Jennings Holiday Tournament this week at Manila. The senior Lady Rebels will play Wednesay night as the number five seed taking on fourth seed East Poinsett County at 7:15. Earlier in the year, the Lady Warriors edged Riverside 57-53. The Junior Lady Rebels will open tournament action Tuesday night at 7:45 as the number one seeded team in the tournament.
