Buffalo Island Central hit from the three point arc to take a 50-45 decision from Manila on Monday. BIC led Manila 19-13 after one before pushing the advantage to 31-23 at the half. The Mustangs continued to hold a 42-33 lead after three as Manila made a late fourth quarter run to outscore BIC 12-8 but could not get the win.
BIC was led by Jessica Shepard with 19 followed by Jae Ashabranner with 16. Others scoring for the Lady Mustangs: NanLee Bridges - six; Ashley Tate - five; Kasey Garrett - four.
Manila was led by Deborah White and Amanda Henson with 10 points each. Also scoring were Rachel Cheadle - seven; Katie Veach - six; Rocio Bedolla - four; Annette Hiser - four; Whitney Shepard - two.
Manila avenged an earlier loss to BIC's junior girls with a 31-20 win over the junior Lady Mustangs. Manila led 4-3 after one and after a 9-1 second quarter Manila took a 13-4 lead at the half. The Lady Lions continued to lead 25-9 after three before getting the win.
Manila was led by Michelle Dozhier with 12 points. Also scoring in the win were Rebekah White - eight; Colleen Kemp - six; Kimberly Wise - three; Myra Earnest - two.
Scoring for BIC were Breanna Cole - six; Lauryn Smith - five; Tiffany McMinn - three; Jordan Miller - two; Chelsie Nix - two; Corie Flannigan - one; and Haley Smith - one.
The senior Lady Lions also fell to Viola on Tuesday 58-55. Manila jumped out to an 18-10 lead in the first before the Lady Longhorns used a 19-6 second quarter to take a 29-25 advantage at the half. The Lady Lions could not overcome the deficit in the third before missing a last second attempt to tie the game in the fourth.
Manila was led by Deborah White with 15 followed by Katie Veach with 14 and Rachel Cheadle with 13. Amanda Henson added nine and Rocio Bedolla put in four.
Kyla Batterton led Viola with 20 points. Micah Thompson added 13 and Jaime Daily 12 for the Lady Longhorns.
The Lady Lions will host the Gerald Jennings Holiday Tournament this week.
