Fay Childress Finch Newman, 93, of St. James, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at her residence. Born at Denton, she lived most of her life in Leachville and lived at St. James for 12 years. She was a retired caregiver and a member of Union Band General Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, John Raymond Finch Retzer of Ellisville, Mo.; two daughters, Barbara Ann Finch Retzer of St. James and Wanda Lee Finch Souder of Paducah, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Newman; her parents, Robert and Beulah Filed Childress; two brothers; and two sisters.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Gregg Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Tribble officiating. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery at Paragould.
Pallbearers were Bobby Souder, Ricky Souder, Rodney Souder, Dale Grimm, Doug Finch and Ray Barger.
