Trey started to kindergarten this year at Buffalo Island Central East elementary. He has had to adjust his golf time around his school schedule this year.
Depriest recently won in his division, 7-8 year olds, qualifying him to be part of the First Tee of Northeast Arkansas Dream Team for Cup play. Depriest shot a 23 on six holes.
The first-ever First Tee of Northeast Arkansas Dream Team was formed with the inaugural First Tee Tournament held at The Oaks in Blytheville. Young golfers qualifying in the top three in each of the four age groups, 7-8, 9-11, 12-13, 14-18, make up the Dream Team. The Dream Team will compete against other First Tees in Cup matches.
The Dream Team will compete against other First tees or other youth golf programs such as the First Tees of Memphis, Little Rock and Fort Smith. Cummings said he is currently negotiating with those three chapters to set up cup matches.
A Dream team meeting will be held and practice sessions will begin soon.
Trey said he enjoys golfing and participating in tournaments with his dad. The two have won tournaments in St. Louis, Mississippi and in the local area.
Trey said he can drive a ball 100 yards. His favorite part of the game is when he chips the ball in and added that some days his putting is better than other days.
Trey's favorite professional golfers are John Daley and Tiger Woods. He is very proud of being the owner of a signed John Daley hat and a golf ball. Trey was given the ball when he was watching Daley play in the St. Jude Classic.
Trey's dad works at Nucor who is a sponsor of the First Tee youth program.
Golfing is Trey's favorite sport but he is also a BIC basketball fan and enjoys attending the games and watching his cousin, Brandon Ballard, play.
