Area golf teams began their season last week by competing in several multi-team matches as well as a two-team match between Buffalo Island Central and Valley View.

Manila's Josh McDaniel shot a 40, and Manila scored a 136 on their way to defeating Salem, Buffalo Island, Gosnell and Riverside last Monday at Big Lake Country Club in Manila in a play-five, count-three golf match.

Gosnell's Keri Lee shot a 51 to push Gosnell past BIC, Salem, Riverside, and Manila.

Stephn Halfacre shot a 44, while Trey McCormick finished with a 52 for Manila. Salem finished second with a 147, while Zack Wilson shot a 50 for BIC which placed third with 164. Gosnell placed fourth with a 168 while Riverside finished with a 181. Nick Elrod led Gosnell with a 56 while Riverside's Kevin Winford paced the Rebels with a 59.

Gosnell finished with a 159, aided by Kristina Sellers and Abby Thompson, who shot 52 and 56 respectively. Tiffany Parker shot a 51 for BIC, which placed second with a 165. Salem finished third with 166, and Audrey Booth shot a 61 for the Rebels, who finished with a 197. Manila's Bethany Daley shot a 58. Daley played as an individual only.

On Tuesday, Valley View (3-1) defeated BIC 138 to 144. Zack O'Reilly shot a 42 to lead the Blazers. Anthony Sims shot a 47 for BIC while Zack Wilson and Cass Taylor shot 48 and 49 respectively.
