Lady Lions end regular season on three game winning streak

Manila went 3 - 0 to end the 2004 regular season by defeating Gosnell and Osceola last week. The Lady Lions picked up a big win over Gosnell on Thursday 19 - 18. Manila jumped out on the Lady Pirates 5 - 0 in the first inning and held the lead until the third when Gosnell tied the game by scoring five runs. After the Lady Pirates took a 7 - 5 advantage in the top of the fourth Manila regained the lead by scoring six runs for a 11 - 7.

It was run for run in the fifth when Manila pulled ahead 13 - 11 in the bottom half. The Lady Lions held on to a 17 - 15 lead after six. Gosnell picked up three runs in the top of the seventh to lead 18 - 17. The Lady Lions led off the bottom of the seventh with senior Natalie Tippy reaching first on a walk followed by a walk by Katie Veach. Manila loaded the bases on the third walk by Audrey Booth before Tippy scored the tying run when Amanda Henson was hit by Gosnell's pitcher. Brittany Clark knocked in the winning run on single to right field.

Natalie Tippy got the pitching win going all seven innings. Tippy had eight strike outs and gave up eight hits. Amanda Henson had a triple with two RBIs followed by Tippy who picked up a single, double and a RBI. Audrey Booth and Brittany Clark each had a single with Booth getting two RBIs and Clark one RBI. Jennifer Duffle picked up a RBI with Katie Veach reaching first base on five walks.

Tippy picked up her first win of the week by defeating Osceola 18 - 8 on Wednesday. Tippy struck out 11 and gave up no hits. She also had a home run for the Lady Lions. Katie Veach and Audrey Booth each had an RBI for Manila. Jennifer Duffle went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs. Amanda Henson and Brittany Clark had a hit and RBI each in the win. Annette Hiser went 2-for-3 at the plate while knocking in two runs.

Brittany Clark pitched the first win against Osceola as Manila got the win 26 - 10. Clark gave up one hit, struck out three and walked 14. Audrey Booth was the hero at the plate as she picked up her first grand slam of the year. Natalie Tippy hit 3-for-3 with a home run followed by Amanda Henson's 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Brittany Clark and Jennifer Duffle hit 2-for-3 and Bethany Daley hit 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Manila's season came to an end as the Lady Lions fell to Harrisburg 15 - 0 in 3AAA South District action on Saturday. Manila advanced to play the Lady Hornets by defeating EPC 17 - 3.
