Manila ends regular season

The Lions ended the regular season going 3 - 1 with wins over EPC and Trumann and falling to Rivercrest. Manila defeated EPC on Tuesday 9 - 5. Senior Justin Hill pitched a complete game with five strike outs. Cody Wells led MHS at the plate hitting 3-for-4 and getting three RBIs. Kevin Curtis hit 3-for-4 and knocked in a run followed by Matt Noble hit 2-for-3 and Josh McDaniel hit 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Casey Hill rounded out hitting for Manila going 1-for-3 with an RBI.

After defeating EPC the Lions headed for Trumann to pick up their second win of the day 9 - 3. Jared Camp pitched seven innings striking out 10 and giving up five hits. Scott Townsend hit 2-for-3 with an RBI. Juan Moyeda picked up two hits and two RBIs followed by Josh McDaniel's hit with two RBIs. Casey Hill, Matt Noble, Kevin Curtis, and P.J. Brumley got a hit each with Hill and Brumley getting an RBI.

Trumann traveled to Manila on Wednesday hoping to avenge their loss the evening before but the Lions continued to roll with a 15-1 over the Wildcats. Josh McDaniel got the win with five innings pitched fanning two and giving up four hits. Cody Wells was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. Juan Moyeda hit 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Josh McDaniel hit a home run while going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Hitting 2-for-3 with an RBI for Manila were: Matt Noble, Scott Townsend, P.J. Brumley, and Jackey Parker. Casey Hill hit 2-for-4 with three RBIs followed by Chris McCormick getting a hit in the win.

Manila's only loss of the week came against the number two Rivercrest Colts 6 - 4. Matt Noble suffered the loss giving up five hits. Josh McDaniel and Casey Hill hit 2-for-4 with McDaniel getting an RBI. Jackey Parker hit 2-for-3 followed by Matt Noble and Scott Townsend getting a hit each. Juan Moyeda had two RBIs and Cody Wells had one in the victory.

Jared Camp picked up his second win of the week as he led the Lions in a 9 - 1 win over Valley View in the 3AAA South District Tournament. Camp fanned four and allowed only one hit in the win. Hits were spread out through the Lions' line up led by P.J. Brumley hitting 2-for-2 with one RBI and Jackey Parker going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Picking up one hit each were Noble, Wells, Moyeda, McDaniel, Hill, Townsend and Curtis. Townsend also had two RBIs in the district win.
