Lavada Riddell - Amagon

Lavada Riddell, 77, of Amagon died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in Newport. Born in Etowah she had worked at several shoe factories, had served as mayor of Amagon and helped to organize the People Helping People Community Center in Amagon. She was a member of Midway Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, J.T. Riddell of Amagon; a son, James P. Riddell of Forrest City; a daughter, Linda Roberson of Amagon; a brother, Dexter Pruett of Newport; three sisters, Wilma Jean Garrett of Gainesville, Ga., Betty Woodruff of Monterey, La., and Beverly Stoker of Amagon; three grandchildren, Kevin Riddell, Russell Riddell and Cara Austin; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Midway Church of Christ with Llano Robinson officiating. Burial was in Pennington Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.
