Charles James Denton, 72, of Manila, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late Charlie and Vera Miller Denton and had been a lifelong area resident. He was the widower of Elsie Denton and was a retired machinist.

He is survived by a son, Jimmy Denton, of Leachville; a daughter, Sandra Ball, of Dyess; a brother, Billy Denton, Sr., of Manila and four grandsons.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Eddie Hawkins officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
