Mustangs now 14-0 in league play

The Buffalo Island Central Mustangs completed a perfect record in the 3AA-North Conference by routing the Rector Cougars, 86-55, in a game played Tuesday of last week at Rector.

The Mustangs moved to 14-0 in conference and 31-1 overall and remain the state's second-ranked Class AA team in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

BIC netted an amazing 12 three-pointers in the first half alone in rolling past Rector.

Brandon Ballard led the way with 30 points, all in the first three quarters (including 20 in the first half). Joining him in double figures were Mark Hawkins 15, Brooks Taylor 14 and Josh Nettles 10.

Nathan Wyatt had 20 points for Rector.

BIC won the junior game, 43-34.

The Junior Mustangs are participating in the district tournament this week

at Walnut Ridge.

The seniors will play Armorel at Monette on Tuesday night and Rivercrest at Leachville on Friday. The senior district tournament is next week at Caraway. The Mustangs have a bye into the tournament semifinals and already have qualified for the regional tournament the following week at Marked Tree.
