Wylie Virgil "Pappy" Johnson, 95, of Leachville died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Monette Manor nursing home. Born at Black Oak, he was the son of the late George and Ollie Ragsdale Johnson and had been a Leachville resident since 1920. He was a member and longtime deacon of the Leachville Second Baptist Church and was the retired owner of Johnson Coal and Ice Company of Leachville.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Della Dortch Johnson of Leachville; a son Ronald "Butch" Johnson, and wife, Freddie, of Paragould; a daughter, Bonnie Yuhas, and husband, John, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Mike and Mark Cunningham, Gregory Johnson and John Yuhas, Jr., and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wylie Johnson, Jr.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.
