Lions roar past Wildcats
Manila improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 68-48 win over Trumann Friday night. The Lions, fueled by Jordan Wise's 24 points, jumped out to 20-10 first quarter lead. Manila outscored the Wildcats 17-8 in the second to enjoy a 37-18 cushion at the half. Trumann outscored Manila 22-18 to pull within 11, 55-44. The Lions took advantage of a 13-4 fourth quarter to get the conference win.
Justin Hill and Matt Noble followed Wise in scoring with 11 and 10 points respectively. Also scoring in the win were Chris Daniel six; Derrick Wright five; Anthony Lancaster five; Chase Shelton four; Chris McCormick three. Clay McClung led Trumann with 20 points followed by Kyle Beard with 16.
Trumann took the junior high contest 37-27. Tied 6-6 after one the junior Wildcats outscored Manila 9-4 in the second to take a 15-10 lead at half. Manila pulled within three after third quarter action with Trumann still up 24-21. Manila was unable to match Trumann in the fourth as TJHS gained the conference win.
Manila was led by Adam Bloom with 12 points. Others scoring were Dustin Hobeck five; Zac Williams five; Hunter Veach two; Gary Tyler two; and Shawn Parsley one.
Duston Jones led Trumann with 12.
