Randall Wayne Smith - Leachville

Randall Wayne Smith, 43, of Leachville, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola form injuries received in an automobile accident near Osceola. He was an agricultural consultant and served as presdient of the Mississippi County Farm Bureau and was active in local youth sports programs. He was a member of Leachville First United Methodist Church where he served on the financial committee. Born at Jonesboro, he was a former Star City resident and was a 1979 graduate of Star City High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy from the University of Arkansas in 1983 and a Masters Degree in General Agriculture in 1988 also from the University of Arkansas where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and an avid Arkansas Razorback fan. He had been a Leachville resident since 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Butler Smith of the home; two sons, Jeremy Smith and Jamison Smith, both of the home; a daughter, Lauryn Smith of the home; his mother and stepfather, Harsley and Shirley Parr of Duvalls Bluff; his father and stepmother, Jerry and Joann Smith of Benton, a brother, Rusty Smith of Cotton Plant; three stepbrothers, Clayton Parr of Little Rock, Greg Hillis of Pickens and Doug Hillis of Conway; and a stepsister, Vicki James of Russellville. a special aunt, Lucile S. Garrett of Benton, his father-in-law, James D. Butler of Star City.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Donnie Hudson officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Keith Griffin, Scott Gifford, Tim Sullivan, Mike Sullivan, Scott Sullivan and Keith Shepard.

Honorary pallbearers were Dale Wells, Happy Grayson, Rodney Robertson, Brian Smith and Greg Smith.
