Five players scored in double figures last Tuesday night as the Manila Lions stunned Piggott 79 - 60.
Manila seemed to gel as a team as they used teamwork to beat the Mohawk's press. The Lions outscored Piggott 14-9 in the first quarter and opened the lead to 36-22 at the half.
Both teams used aggressive play in the matchup as 65 free throws were shot. Manila continued to lead 56-40 after three quarters and roared on for the win.
Manila was led by Matt Noble with 19 points, followed by Jordan Wise with 14. Justin Hill and Derrick Wright each contributed 12 as Chris Daniel added 10. Others scoring for the Lions were Anthony Lancaster and Chase Shelton - three each; Cody Wells, Jackey Parker, and P.J. Brumley with two each.
Piggott was led by Joe Blascoe with 14 points, followed by
Jared Vaughn with 12 and Jake Jones with 10. Others scoring for the Mohawks were: Chet Vaughn - seven; Chad Emerson - five; Eric Coleman - four; Jonathan Cox - three; Chris Wegel - three and Kalyn Hoggard - two.
Piggott defeated the junior Lions in a very competitive game 49-43. Manila's Dustin Hobeck and Zac Williams led all scorers with 13 points followed by six each from Adam Bloom and Sky Morris.
Others scoring for MJHS were: Shawn Parsley - three and Joe Ward - two.
Piggott was led by Trey Sutfin with 12 points each with
teammates T. J. Harris and Stephen Willett scoring 10 points each. Others scoring for PJHS were Lance Conley - nine; Logan Ballard - five; and Jeff Ward - three.
