The Riverside Rebels tennis team concluded its regular season by splitting a pair of matches against the Walnut Ridge Bobcats Monday afternoon at the Lake City tennis courts.
Riverside boys' team shut out the visiting Bobcats 6-0, but then the Lady Bobcats turned the tables with a 3-0 whitewash of their own over the Lady Rebels.
In boys' action, the Rebels swept the singles matches as Lee Blake defeated Andrew Watson 7-5, Von McDaniel downed Jack Kent 6-3, Josh Ball shut out John Stowers 6-0, and Kabe Taylor beat Justin Baker 6-1.
In doubles play, the team of Blake-McDaniel edged the Bobcat team of Watson-Kent 6-4, and the Rebels completed their sweep when Zac Reynolds and Matt Owens shut out the team of Stowers-Baker 6-0.
The Rebels finish their regular season with an impressive 7-2 mark entering district tournament play at Arkansas State University on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
In girls' play, Walnut Ridge's Holly Rutledge edged the Lady Rebels Heather Webb 7-5, and Lady Bobcat Kenna McEntire downed Riverside's Miranda Boyd 6-2.
In the only doubles match of the afternoon, the Walnut Ridge team of Rutledge-McEntire won a thrilling 7-6 (7-5) set over the Rebel duo of Chelsea Couch and Heather Webb.
Riverside's Lady Rebels completed their regular season with a 4-3-2 record and will also play in the district tournament at Arkansas State University Oct. 14.
