Alvin J. "Blue" Winford, 60, of Lake City died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Lakeside Nursing Home in Lake City. Born at Lake City, he had lived in California and Texas before returning to Lake City in 1998. He was a retired roofer and served in the National Guard. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Smith, of Monette; three brothers, Ralph Winford, Ed Winford and Ronnie Winford, all of Lake City; three sisters, Melba Caldwell and Wilma Stoggsdile, both of Lake City, and Janie Findley of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys Hendrix Winford, two brothers and two sisters.
A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Monette Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of arrangements.
Jackie Winford, Kenneth Winford, Jeff Winford, Daniel Winford, Leon Johnson and Ronald Tyler served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were nieces and nephews, Brandon Peaster, Shan Lamb, Anthony Reece and Gary Beaty.
