Robert Poe - Caraway

Robert Poe, 86, of Caraway, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a retired farmer, a member of Caraway Church of Christ, and had lived in the Caraway area most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Poe of the home; three sisters, Gladys Anderson of Monette, Elsie Asbury of Memphis, Tenn., and Juanita Whitaker of Benton Harbor, Mich.; a son, Ronnie Poe of Nesbit, Miss.; three daughters, Charolette Hicks of Caraway, Charlene Ashmore of Imperial, Mo., Wilma Hoffman of Ward; a step-daughter, Laverne Ross of Cross Plains, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Caraway Church of Christ with John Shadowens officiating. Burial was in the Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Pallbearers were grandsons Chuck Hicks, Jared Poe, Bobby Hoffman, Ronnie Koons, Tim Raner and Rick Honigfort.

Honorary pallbearers were Rayburn Faulkner, Charles Brickell, Vernon Dowless, Kermit McCord, Paul Taylor, Marvin Browning, Harold Browning, Roy Anderson, and men of the Caraway Church of Christ.
