Vernie Brooks - Rivervale

Vernie Brooks, 87, of Rivervale died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Brooks of Rivervale and Dennis Brooks of Smithville; two daughters, Dorothy Wolf of Rivervale and Evelyn Felton of Laport, Ind.; a sister, Joann Hensley of Caraway; a brother, Glen Austin of Rivervale; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Brooks, and a daughter.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel at Lepanto with Rick Kimery officiating. Burial was at Caraway Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Glen Austin Jr., Billy Wayne Pendergrass, Ricky Austin, Horace Pendergrass, Ronnie Rosamond and Jackie Mullins.
