BLYTHEVILLE -- The Rex and Alice A. Martin Foundation and Arkansas Northeastern College announced the grand opening of the NIBCO Children's Care Center on the college campus.
Dr. John Sullins, President of the College, said, "We are deeply grateful to The Rex and Alice A. Martin Foundation. Without their lead contribution, a new improved day care center would not have become a reality. Daycare for our students' children is an integral and necessary part of our mission to provide a quality education for our student body."
Alice A. Martin, President of The Rex and Alice A. Martin Foundation and Vice Chairman of NIBCO INC.; and Rex Martin, Chairman, President and C.E.O. of NIBCO INC. hosted the grand opening luncheon held at the Blytheville Country Club. In June 2002, The Rex and Alice A. Martin Foundation contributed $75,000 to the college for the express purpose of building a beautiful new daycare center on campus.
The 4,000-square-foot building provides free daycare for up to 54 of the children of students attending Arkansas Northeastern College.
The Rex and Alice A. Martin Foundation had the opportunity to name the daycare facility. "I wanted to name the facility, NIBCO Children's Care Center', in honor of NIBCO's hard-working associates -- past and present -- at our Blytheville plant," said Alice Martin.
"NIBCO celebrates over 40 years in Blytheville. The City of Blytheville and the State of Arkansas have been good partners for us," stated Alice Martin. "We are proud to be able to make a college education easier to obtain for the citizens of northeastern Arkansas."
