Manila's Scott Townsend took medalist honors with a one over 73 score at the Manila Invitational Tournament Monday, Sept. 15, at the Big Lake Country Club. Eight high schools participated in the tournament.
Piggott won the team competition with a 242. Leading the Mohawks were Chase Akins with an 80 and Jeremy Lemmons and Jonathan Johnson with 81. Piggott's Daniel Steen had 102.
Following Townsend for Manila's score were Stephn Halfacre with 97, Daniel Warren with 102, Denver Delaney 109. Manila finished sixth in the tournament with 272.
Runner-up title went to Trumann's team with a 247. Leading Trumann was Clay McClung with 80, followed by Andrew Walters 81, and Lucas Miller 86.
Crowley's Ridge Academy came in third place with a team score of 261. Team leader for CRA was Joseph Wallace with 83, Sean Trelfa with 89, Andy Hutchinson 89, and Michael Eskew with 93.
Harrisburg came in fourth with a score of 264 with Brandon Neal carding 86 followed by Zack Owens' 88, Brad Jackson's 90 and Tyler Riddle 92.
Other team scores were Gosnell 266, Manila 272, Valley View 301 and BIC 325.
BIC's individual scores were Chris Deeds 121, Anthony Sims 116, Cass Taylor 93, and Eric Wallace 116.
Gosnell boys finished with Jay Gee shooting 85, Byron St. Laurent 94, Hobby Elrod 87, and Clayton Gentry 117.
Valley View individual scores were Josh Bryson 95, Casey Spencer 103, and John Anderson 103.
