Manila golfers place second in tri-match

Big Lake Country Club hosted a four team golf match Monday, Aug. 25 with Manila, BIC, Ridgefield Christian, and Trumann participating.

Trumann took the match with a team score of 117 led by Clay McClung, medalist, with a 36, following ed a 38 from Miller.

Manila boys came in second place with a 132 led by Scott Townsend with a 41. Other Manila scores were Stephn Halfacre 45, Denver Dulaney and Daniel Warren 46 each and Blake Reinhart 59.

Ridgefield Christian came in third place with a team 162.

Buffalo Island Central team had a 164 led by Chris Deeds with a 52. Other BIC golfers were Cass Taylor 55, Anthony Sims 57, Eric Wallace 59.

In the girls' division, Manila's senior Michelle Eubanks was medalist with 42 followed by teammates KC Chipman 54, Audrey Booth 56, and Bethany Daley 62 for a team score of 153.

Nan Lee Bridges was the only BIC golfer to participate and finished with a score of 52.

Manila teams traveled to Ridge Pointe, Valley View for a three team match with Valley View and Piggott.

Piggott took the top honors in the boys' division with a 118. Jeremy Lemmons and Jonathon Johnson tied for medalists with 39 each.

Manila came in second with a team 136 with Stephn Halfacre leading his team with a 40. Other Manila scores included Scott Townsend 43, Daniel Warren 53, Denver Dulaney 58 and blake Reinhart 65.

Valley View's team finished with a 159 with John Anderson carding 51 followed by Josh Bryson and Casey Spencer with 54 each.

In the girls' division Beth Drury of Valley View was medalist with a 42. Piggott's Heather Mayberry finished with a 50.

Three Manila teammates participated with Audrey Booth finishing with a 52, Michelle Eubanks 54 and Bethany Daley 56 for a team total of 162.

Manila will host an invitational tournament a Big Lake Country Club beginning at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8.
