Claria Maude McCallie, 80, of Manila died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical center in Jonesboro. Born at Oil Trough, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Harriette Risden Cox and had been a lifelong Manila area resident. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons, Buddy McCallie, Richard McCallie and Larry McCallie, all of Manila; five daughters, Betty Eby of Fayetteville, N.C., Barbara Lasater of Manila, Shirley Payton of Leachville, Carolyn Sarrels of Jonesboro and Beatrice Hill of Manila; a brother, Orbia Cox of Avon Park, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary McCallie, two brothers and a sister.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Howard Funeral chapel in Manila with Rev. Eddie Hawkins officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
