Mallard Lake was stocked with 6,400 largemouth bass yearlings last week by the Arkansas Game and Fish. The four to six inch bass came from the hatchery in Corning. Clinton "Tiny" Hancock with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission delivered the fish.
"These are good size and will more than likely have a 50-60 percent survival rate," Hancock said.
The water in the tank had to be warmed before the fish could be placed in the lake. Hancock said it is important that the tank water temperature and the lake water temperature are within only four or five degrees difference.
Mallard Lake is stocked two or three times each year.
On hand for the delivery were Kent Wagner, area technician, and Jim Brooks, wildlife officer with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
