Brenda Matheny, Buffalo Island Relay for Life Steering Committee member said that the event raised $1,400.
"On behalf of the Buffalo Island Relay for Life steering committee, we want to thank Jeff Goff, Greg Martin and Mike Matheny who directed the tournament, all of the volunteer umpires, teams and workers that helped with the tournament. Without all of them, and the other teams that are raising money, we would not be able to raise funds for such a good cause. We also want to invite everyone to attend the Relay for Life that will be held at the Leachville City Park on Sept. 19," Matheny said.
Matheny said one of the special guests on hand for the tournament was Pat Hembrey, a cancer survivor. Her son, Mike Hembrey, umpired the women's games. She also had a daughter and a granddaughter playing in the tournament.
