Grace Lee Shannon, 98, of Monette, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at her residence. She was a homemaker, member of Childress Baptist Church, and had lived in Monette for 60 years, formerly of Timbo.
She is survived by two daughters, Christine Bibb of Monette and Sylvia Shannon of Energy, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Brenda McConnaughey, Shelba Glenn, Donna Elwell, Darrell Pruitt, Marsha Sharp, Rhonda Flaig, Derek Rowell and Shannon Rowell; 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Shannon and a daughter, Ella Rosa Rowell, and her father and mother, Walter and Rosie Guffey, four brothers, three sisters, and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Blue Mountain Baptist Church in Timbo with Rev. Gary Ragsdale officiating. Burial will be at Blue Mountain Cemetery in Timbo. Gregg Funeral Home of Monette is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held this evening (Tuesday) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
