Leachville Mayor Ralph Wells welcomed guests and representatives of Southern Bank of Commerce at a ground breaking ceremony last Wednesday.
"We are excited about having Southern Bank of Commerce coming to Leachville. Hopefully, this will pull us in business from southeast Missouri. It will be a great asset to our town and we are glad to have them here," Mayor Ralph Wells said. "We are looking for good things in Leachville. The city council and I are working hard to move Leachville forward."
Wells said it had been great to work with Greg Miller, president and CEO, and John Steele, senior vice president of Southern Bank of Commerce.
Debra Kirby will serve as branch manager at the Leachville location and commented that she is happy to be back in Leachville working. Also on hand for the ground breaking were Sam Sides, compliance officer, Donald Parker, board member, and Keith Milligan, senior vice president.
Among the guests were members of the Leachville City Council; Manila Mayor Clifford Veach; H.M. Alexander, plant manager of Southworth, Inc. of Manila; Mike Bearden, Leachville city attorney; city employees; area business owners and other residents of the area.
Miller said they can't wait to open in Leachville. If the weather cooperates, it is hopeful that the 1,800 square foot building will be completed in 90 to 120 days. The new facility will have two drive through windows and an ATM. It will be located on Main Street near the former Dr. Rodman Hospital.
"The mayor and the city council made the decision to locate here an easy one," Miller said.
A loan production office at the site has been opened in a temporary facility to serve the community.
Southern Bank of Commerce is headquartered in Paragould and has been serving the community since 1999. They also have branches in Jonesboro and Brookland.
