Tourney is success

Area men and women's softball teams played in a benefit tournament in Manila Friday night and Saturday. Ten teams participated including three men's teams and seven women's teams.

The slow pitch, double elimination tournament, raised nearly $1,200. All proceeds will go to Rose Sammons to help with medical expenses. Sammons suffered burns and has been undergoing treatment.

Teams participating were the men's teams, MLM Blasters, The Lions and the Silver Bullets. Women's teams participating were The Rockets, The Fumble Bees, The Pink Ladies, The Outlaws, BIC Ladies, The Intimidators, and the Dazed and Confused.

Prizes were given away throughout the tournament.

First, second and third place trophies were awarded. In the men's division, first place winner was MLM Blasters of Manila. Second place winners were the Silver Bullets of Blytheville. Third place winners were the Lions of Manila.

In the women's division the Pink Ladies won first place and the Buffalo Island Girls won second place and the Fumble Bees won third place.
