Melvin Dawson Sr., 74, of White Hall, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was retired from Wagner Electric in St. Louis, and lived in White Hall five years, formerly of Monette.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Naomi (Norman) Dawson of the home; a son, Melvin Dawson, Jr., of White Hall; two sisters, Myrtle Callahan of Osceola, Mo., and Della Midyett of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Raymond Dawson of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, George Dawson, Lee Dawson, Layman Dawson, Donald Dawson and James Dawson, and two sisters, Frona Scott and Sylvia Dace.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Arthur Phelps officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Pallbearers were Wayland McClelland, Joey Barnes and Lynn Barnes.
