Riverside's 16 and under girls' softball team played four games against Manila last week and came up the victor in all four contests.
The two teams played a double header Tuesday night at Lake City. In the first game, Riverside defeated Manila 17-1.
The Wooley Boogers were led by Whitney Shasteen who singled, doubled, had three RBI's and scored twice; Kendra Daniels, who singled three times and added two RBI's; and Magan Adams, who singled, doubled twice, added an RBI and scored three runs.
Rachel Cheadle doubled for Manila, while Christy Burnett, Whitney Veach, and Jamie Yancey provided Manila's other hits of the game. In the night cap, Riverside won 1307.
Riverside's Daniels singled, scored, and added an RBI, and Shasteen doubled, contributed an RBI, and scored twice. Manila was led by Amanda Rowen's double, 2 RBI's and a run, and Brittni Sammons' single, double and RBI.
On Thursday night, Riverside defeated Manila 15-5 at Manila, behind Samantha Dunigan's single, double, three RBI's and three runs. Dunigan also pitched six strike-outs for the Wooley Boogers. Daniels singled, scored, and added an RBI. Ashley Foster singled and scored, Emilee Hook singled twice and added a run, while Shasteen singled, tripled, scored three runs and added an RBI. Megan Poskey singled and scored twice, while Jennifer Pollard singled and scored. Manila was led by Audrey Booth who doubled, singled twice, added an RBI and a run, and Sammons, who had a double, and RBI and scored a run. Rachel Cheadle singled, Bethany Daley singled twice, and Kari Rameriz singled twice and scored twice. Riverside defeated Manila 10-6 Friday night at Manila.
In other softball action, Lake City's 12-under team won a doubleheader over Monette, 17-4, and 20-9. Coach Boyd Cobb said his team hit the ball well last week and are in a tight conference race. The 12-under team impored to 8-2 on the year.
The 8-under girls played at Harrisbur, winning 6-4. Emily Jordan and Airiel Fry each hit home runs in the contest.
